It's because Americans have become so afraid of being seen as communists or being soft on communist that any politician can pretty much get their way on anything if they can just make their opponents' positions look communistic.

If the communists started going out of their way to make fair and decent courts and trumpeting so to the world, we'd probably shut ours down just to avoid looking like them ...

I've talked to a couple of Americans so far, on a diferent subject (about education) and had strange replies from them.

that is from an American show as you can see. Τhe show of course must have cut scenes so that we'll only see the funny ones, but still they made it that way to comment the American educational system.
I showed that video to an American, and here is the reply I got
"The reason that our education system sucks so badly is from the government caring more about trying to keep the rest of the world safe and under control. We spend more money on rebuilding and supplying arms then we do on our own country....." (copy-pasted his reply)
So now you know. They just care so much to keep the world safe that they spend their money on us rather than on themselves.... ahem..

We DO have a version of NHS Gordon. I thought I told you this before. Its called Medicare and Medicaid. However, just like in Britian, with public funds there is a gap between 'poor enough to get on the system' and 'not enough to get by.' And, its just as pants.

Another reason we do not have a socialized medicine is.. well.. LOOK at Canada. Frankly, a system like that scares the shit out of us. 'here take a number, get in line.' By the time you get through the line, you're either dead, healed, or paid for the treatment privately as it became so dire.

Secondly, umm.. last time I checked... Britian's NHS was massively in the red, and is struggling to keep its head above water, which there's no denying the truth of that. Also, sorry, but Britian writes off more patients far easier than any other European country (unless you're on BUPA) and most of those, go over to the US to seek treatment because the UK won't do anything further or the NHS won't cover the treatment, no matter how proven or simple it may be, nor the length of time its been around. Its about cost. Its all about cost. How long do you have to wait in Britian for an MRI scan? Unless its an emergency. Months.

That is why the US does not have a socialized medicine system for all, nor all these welfare programmes for all that the UK does. We know it would crash our country and give us second rate health delivered by third world countries. Just like is happening to Britian.

Probably because Americans don't want higher taxes. In order to have a service like that, taxes would have to be buko high. And if we did have a system like that, there would probably be people who would abuse it every chance they got. That is how we Americans work. We'll pour our money into meanial things, but when it comes to higher taxes and the future, most of us could care less because it doesn't affect us right NOW. Americans are stupid that way and they are also stupid because they feel a need to abuse any good thing that comes their way. England also has a smaller popularion and controled boarders too. If a system like that were instigated here, we, who already are having trouble would have an even harder time keeping illegals from coming across our boarder to get free health care, causing Americans to pay higher taxes still for people who are not even interested in becoing Americans. Until the boarder issues are resolved and Americans actiually get a brain, I don't think that they'll have NHS.
