Perceval's Tranceby *dashinvaine

Oil painting on board. Book-cover format. Illustrates the scene from Arthurian legend, where Perceval, after his arduous quest for the elusive Grail, sees drops of bird's blood on the snow. He is sent into a reverie, suddenly remembering his long-lost love Blanchefleur, and her white skin and red lips. He is so entranced that he is unaware of the knights of Camelot who have come along. Kay, offended by being ignored, charges at him, but still Perceval is unresponsive. I'm attempting book-cover wrap around format for a portfolio mock-up. Eventually Perceval comes out of his trance and kicks Kay's ass, paying him back also for a previous episode where he caused offence striking a maiden.

This is a striking image! The winter scene, with the distant castle and the nearer forest is well done. The contrasting reds and golds are beautiful and eye catching.

The cross grave marker behind Perceval and the dead bird in front are very evocative and perfectly match the subject.

It is beautiful.

Beautiful! My favorite parts of those stories are when Kay would piss someone off, get knocked off his horse, and Gawain would ride up and basically say, "Serves him right! Come party with us."

This is fantastic. You convey a wonderful atmosphere proper of olden scriptures and fitting for the Arthurian legend with the darker colours and blends of blue and the contrasting white of the horses that just seems to come out from the winter storm. The background looks fantastic and the detail on the clothes and the armors is just fabulous.
