A little painting to celebrate the world not ending. Oil on canvas-textured paper, 11.5x15.5 inches (29x39cm). Did not intend any specific narrative, although had the Lady of the Lake motif at the back of my mind, also the fact that swords were deposited as votive offerings in lakes and rivers well into medieval times. (Also the Rhinemaidens, who appear in Rackham's illustrations, although atmosphere wise I was hoping more to evoke the likes of Waterhouse and Draper).

I like the way you celebrate things. =) This is lovely, and I didn't know that bit about votive offerings in rivers. Very interesting, indeed. Is there some kind of "backhistory" to the Excalibur myth explaining who originally put it there, and why? I'll have to look that one up. Beautiful work!

I have no idea if there is a back story as to how a well known moistened bint came into possession of Excalibur... Thanks belatedly.

Wow! Amazing work! Love it!

I was wandering if you could let me us this image for an Android game called "Kingdoms of Myth", it's turn based strategy game based on a fantasy World. You can find a little bit more info in this rough website made by my colleges [link] (Sorry for the bad English). Of course you will have full credits of your work and link to your webpage if you want :)

Lot of thanks for your time ;)
